To summarise, the only data collected is the minimum necessary for the purpose of selling a vehicle and associated products such as finance, insurance or servicing. No data will be processed for any other any reason than what it was collected for to assist the smooth negotiation or repair of a vehicle. No data will be disseminated to commercial third parties nor sold or rented out except for sharing your data with the Peugeot Motor Company or Vauxhall Motors in relation to the sale and/or service of a vehicle.

What data is collected and why?
Data is collected for the purpose of selling, purchasing, servicing or repairing a vehicle and associated products such as finance, insurance or servicing.
Information that you provide to us when enquiring on our website, on the telephone, in person, or through the post includes the following:
- Contact information including full name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Information relating to your current or potential vehicle, including registration number, registration date, mileage, condition, service history or any other vehicle related issues relevant to the sale, purchase or repair.
- Information relating to the financing of your vehicle including finance provider, deposit amount, monthly payments, interest rate, type of finance and length of finance agreement.
- Information related to vehicle insurance and current driving licence details.
- We use software tools such as Google Analytics to collect activity via our website for marketing purposes. We look at the following, but not exclusive to the channel the website was entered by, if an enquiry was made, session duration and pages visited. Telephone information including phone numbers and call duration that we use for training and quality control.
Where is your data stored and what do we do with it?
Any information is kept secure and safe by using an internal database which is a password-protected system. Where information is paper based this is either scanned and stored electronically or held securely. In order to prevent unauthorised access or data breaches we have effective procedures in place to safeguard information held on you.
If provided with your full details, we will contact you by email, phone or mail unless requested otherwise.
From time to time, we may contact you regarding offers, new products and/or recalls which we think to be of legitimate interest to those who have bought, or enquired with us before (if ticked on our form). Unless asked to unsubscribe from contact, clients who have bought, serviced or repaired with us will receive this follow up for 5 years and those who enquired, but never bought, serviced or repaired for 3.
Data may at any point be removed from the database or from marketing activity if requested. We have legitimate reasons to keep information about the vehicle sale, repair and/or service, but we will remove all connection with the client from this.

Identity of Data Controller
On successful payment of the reservation fee, we will reserve your chosen vehicle (the Vehicle) for you for up to 48 hours (the Reservation Period) to enable you to speak to one of our sales advisors. If you make a telephone or dealership appointment within the Reservation Period, we will reserve the Vehicle for you until the time of your appointment, and extend the Reservation Period until your appointment. If you have not made a telephone or dealership appointment with the selling dealership within 48 hours to discuss the Vehicle, or you do not attend an agreed appointment within 7 days, the Reservation Period will end, your reservation may be cancelled and your reservation fee will be refunded to you with 7 days.
There is no obligation on you to buy the Vehicle, or on us to sell the Vehicle, as a result of payment of a reservation fee. You will receive a confirmation email when the reservation is effective. If you do not receive a confirmation email then your reservation has not been effective so please contact us.
There may be circumstances when the Vehicle has already been sold (before your reservation fee is paid) but the website has not yet been updated. If this occurs, your reservation will be cancelled and we will contact you to confirm this, and to see if we can locate an alternative vehicle for you. Your reservation fee would be refunded.
If you attend a telephone or dealership appointment to discuss the Vehicle, and decide not to proceed, the Reservation Period will end. If you purchase the Vehicle at that appointment, your reservation fee will be retained by us as part payment towards the Vehicle, and will be treated as a deposit on the Vehicle. If the Vehicle is not suitable, and you do not wish to purchase it, your reservation fee will be refunded to you.
We may cancel your reservation if you have reserved more than 2 vehicles at any one time or if the Vehicle is withdrawn from sale for any reason. Your reservation fee would be refunded in either case.
Any refunds can only be paid by the same method as the original payment and to the same card and will be paid within 7 days of request or cancellation of your reservation (or you confirming that you do not wish to purchase the Vehicle).
Offer subject to availability within 30 miles radius of CA14 4HX is free of charge. Distances further than 30 miles will be subject to a charge of £1 per mile over and above 30 miles.
Distance Sale - Your right to cancel
A distance sale is defined as when a customer buys a car and the contract is not formed at our premises.
This includes when an order is placed and paid for online, or by telephone, and the product is delivered to
the customer's home without any face-to-face contact or collected outside at our premises.
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any particular reason. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you, or a third party on your behalf, collect or take delivery of your vehicle. To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement sent to the Sales Manager by post or email detailed below in the footer of this statement within the 14 day cancellation deadline.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you payments received from you, including the cost of delivering the goods to you (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose delivery over collection or a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us). This reimbursement is subject to the following conditions:
- We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you. Anything over and above 250 miles will be considered unnecessary handling and will lead to a deduction of £1 for each mile driven over 250 miles. In addition, we will also be entitled to make a deduction for any damage or excess wear.
- We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day we receive back from you the vehicle and all documents which were supplied including, but not limited to, keys, service histories, MOT and the V5 documentation.
- We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise. In any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement. This may include handing back any part exchange vehicle if still available and/or seeking payment from you to cover any negative equity.
- We will withhold the reimbursement until we have received the goods and all paperwork back in good order.
- It is your responsibility to return the vehicle without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation of this contract to us.
- You will remain liable for the vehicle and so for its tax, insurance, and any fines, charges or penalties until it has been accepted back to our premises.
- You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods and take full responsibility for the safe return of the vehicle.
- You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than which is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods according to the previous reference to mileage.
- Commercial vehicles and vans are excluded for the 14-day right to cancel.
Rights to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
We aim to resolve all disputes via our internal complaints' procedure. If you are not satisfied following the conclusion of this procedure, The Motor Ombudsman will offer free impartial advice and, when appropriate, an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service. Disclosure of Information
It is important that you understand that any information you provide to us is your responsibility and must be correct. We advise you to keep copies of all documentation we send to you for your own records and protection. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are in doubt on any aspect. The disclosure of information applies not only at the start of your finance agreement but also throughout the term of the finance agreement.
Making a Complaint
At Dobies Cumbria Finance Ltd, each of our customers is important to us and we believe that you have the right to a fair, swift and courteous service at all times. If there are occasions when we do not meet your expectations, please contact the Finance Manager either verbally or in writing to the above address providing details of your concerns. We will respond in writing within five days of receipt of your concerns; however we may need to investigate further. If this happens, we will write to you within those five days and advise you of who is dealing with the matter. We will investigate your concerns promptly and provide you with a final response within eight weeks of receiving your concerns. If you remain dissatisfied with our final response (at any stage of the process) you may be entitled to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). You must refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service within 6 months of the date of our final response.
Consumer Credit Trade Assocation (CCTA)
Dobies Cumbria Finance Limited is a member of the Consumer Credit Trade Association (CCTA). The CCTA offers a complaint conciliation service which is free of charge and impartial if you have a complaint or dispute with us. If you feel your complaint has not been resolved by us to your satisfaction, the CCTA will adjudicate and you can ask for any dispute to be referred to them. This free of charge service does not in any way prevent you from referring your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) if you are not satisfied with their adjudication.

How and why we use your personal information

- driving licence details;

Who we provide your personal information to
In order to process your application, we will share your personal information with credit reference agencies at the time of your application and for as long as you are a customer.
To do this, we will supply your personal information to credit reference agencies and they will give us information about you. This will include information from your credit application and about your financial situation and financial history. Credit reference agencies will supply to us both public (including the electoral register) and shared credit, financial situation and financial history information.
We will use this information to:
- assess your creditworthiness and whether you can afford to take the product;
- verify the accuracy of the data you have provided to us;
- prevent criminal activity, fraud and money laundering;
- manage your account(s);
- trace and recover debts; and
- ensure any offers provided to you are appropriate to your circumstances.
We will continue to exchange information about you with credit reference agencies while you have a relationship with us. We will also inform the credit reference agencies about your settled accounts. If you borrow and do not repay in full and on time, credit reference agencies will record the outstanding debt. This information may be supplied to other organisations by credit reference agencies.
When credit reference agencies receive a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lender
If you are making a joint application, or tell us that you have a spouse or financial associate, we will link your records together, so you should make sure you discuss this with them, and share with them this information, before lodging the application. Credit reference agencies will also link your records together and these links will remain on your and their files until such time as you or your partner successfully files for a disassociation with the credit reference agencies to break that link.

We may share your personal information with our sister companies within the Dobie group; namely Dobies Cumbria Workington Ltd and Dobies Cumbria Motors Ltd, where it would be reasonable to do so.
